The private service industry is brimming with fascinating stories—stories that often go unheard. Every 1st and 3rd Thursday, I hop on Clubhouse to shine a spotlight on some of the most captivating journeys I’ve encountered. It’s one of the best parts of what I do because every story is unique, powerful, and full of valuable insights.
My co-host, Peter Van Ryder, of Estate Management Solutions and I have had the pleasure of meeting phenomenal individuals who have carved out incredible careers in this field. Some of the questions I often ask are ones that leave me in awe:
- How did you become the Director of Housekeeping at one of the world’s most prestigious resorts?
- How does one land the coveted role of Major Domo for the last living survivor of Italian royalty?
- What led you from finance, art, or some other very different industry to the private service industry?
Most of these aren’t roles that just fall into someone’s lap. They are built through years of dedication, skill, and seizing the right opportunities. And that’s exactly what I love to explore – the moments that shaped their careers, the decisions that set them apart, and the passion that drives them forward.
Recently, I had the pleasure of speaking with someone whose mother was an Estate Manager. They’re only the second person I’ve ever met who is following in their family’s footsteps in this unique industry. How remarkable is that?
These are the kinds of stories I want to hear – and I know they’re out there waiting to be told. No two journeys in this highly niched aspect of hospitality are the same, and that’s what makes them so compelling.
So, I invite you to join us on the Clubhouse app, where we can dive deep into these amazing paths, learn from each other, and share the triumphs and challenges that come with working in this one-of-a-kind industry. Whether you’re just starting out or have decades of experience, your story matters, and I can’t wait to hear it.
